Technically, The warm up is only to warm the ball up. However, strategically, it is a good time to focus on getting your down the wall shots going to a good length and getting your cross-courts going to a good width. Courts and conditions change so pay attention to how the ball is reacting.
Additionally, the warm up is a good time to evaluate your opponent. Have a look for any weak spots your opponent may have. Is your opponent able to hit over heads (feed them a few lobs), volleys and can they move rapidly or are they slow to move forward or a particular corner (feed them shots that make them turn or boasts and drops that have them move to the front of the court)?
A helpful warm up can be as simple as identifying if your opponent is right handed or left handed - evaluate - evaluate - evaluate, play safe and enjoy your game.
